Brian David Adams, MD

Brian Adams, MD, is our spine interventionalist.  He comes to us with a trio of board certifications in Anesthesiology, Interventional Pain Management, and Addiction Medicine.  His academic journey began at the University of Georgia where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biological Engineering.  After a several-year career in the engineering disciplines, he returned to school and received a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Colorado State University.

This was followed by a Doctorate of Medicine from The Medical College of Georgia.  During medical school, Dr. Adams participated in the Student Government Association, a role he was familiar with from his dealings as high school class president.

Dr. Adams then went on to The University of Texas Southwestern Department of Anesthesiology where he completed a medical internship and residency.  He was recruited by his physician educators to remain for an additional year of advanced level fellowship training in interventional spine procedures and pain management.  His initial interest in Anesthesiology and Interventional Spine stems from early exposure in his role as an Anesthesiology Technician in a North Atlanta Hospital.

During his fellowship training, he was awarded first place in the medically challenging case category for his presentation on “Multilevel Thoracolumbar Sympathetic Ganglion Block for Refractory Kidney Pain,” presented at the prestigious John’s Hopkins University.  He was a staunch advocate for resident-led education of junior physicians and medical students which culminated in being appointed to the Gold Humanism Honor Society and a faculty election to the prestigious role of Chief Resident overseeing an Anesthesiology Department of over 60 residents.

He was born in St. Louis, MO but has considered Atlanta home since 1986.  He currently resides near Lake Lanier and enjoys an active lifestyle with his spouse of 13 years and three children ages 10, 8, and 6.  They enjoy both domestic and international travel, sports, arts, and cultural enrichment.  Dr. Adams, a former Eagle Scout, enjoys participating in scouting with his boys and getting the family outdoors for hiking, camping, and other adventures.  He is passionate about his work in helping to return injured patients back to an active lifestyle.
