Facet joints are located between each set of vertebrae in the spine from the neck to the tailbone. A facet joint injection is an interventional procedure that is used to relieve chronic back and neck pain by reducing the swelling and inflammation of tissue in and around the facet joint space. The procedure involves injecting a mixture of local anesthetic and steroid medication into the facet joint.
Our Double Board Certified Spine Surgeons are skilled and experienced in performing this advanced procedure. Our doctors use a state-of-the-art C-Arm GE 9900 Elite Fluoroscopy with a laser guidance system to safely and accurately deliver an injection into one or more of the facet joints. For many patients, facet joint injections are highly effective in producing long-term pain relief.
Am I A Candidate For Facet Injections?
How do I know if I am a candidate for a facet injection? Patients with arthritic or thickened facet joints who experience chronic neck or back pain with movement are usually good candidates for this procedure. The best way to determine if you are a candidate is to schedule an appointment. During your appointment, an X-ray will be taken to determine if you have arthritis in your facet joints that may benefit from a facet joint injection.
If you or a member of your family is suffering from chronic neck or back pain, please contact our experts at Spine Center Atlanta today to schedule an appointment. We look forward to serving you with a top-quality spine, neck, and back care!
